Experience Marketing Jobs

Experience Marketing Description

Experience marketing, also known as engagement/live/event/special marketing, is the marketing of a brand through real-world experiences. Experience marketing offers brands a way for potential consumers to directly interact with them in real life, which can significantly increase the likelihood of brand recall and generate positive associations with the brand.

Experience marketing is fun and often larger-than-life, utilising flashy and interactive displays to entice consumers and persuade them to engage with the brand. It's great for engagement, but can also be used to reshape a brand's meaning. Famous examples include Red Bull's Stratos - the stratosphere freefall that broke records and garnered worldwide attention; earlier in 2018, Converse launched an exclusive boutique hotel, utilising exciting influencers to give the brand more prominence among mainstream music and fashion fans. There's a lot of scope and excitement in experience marketing.

Experience Marketing Salaries

Experience marketing salaries really depend on the agency or company you work for. Many start around £25,000, but can reach dizzying heights with seniority, with mid-weight roles bringing in around £35,000. Experiential marketing roles tend to open doors to senior management and director roles, due to their hands-on involvement with large budgets and in-depth campaign planning, which usually provides solid data to use in future case studies.

What Makes a Good Experience Marketer?

Good experiential marketers are organised and meticulous - able to manage large budgets and deliver on multiple avenues simultaneously. Experiential marketers have to deal with clients and suppliers, so it can be considered a business development role; therefore, communication and relationship-building skills are crucial. A good experience marketer also needs to be creative and innovative, being able to design campaigns that make a brand stand out, and more importantly, drive engagement and awareness.
