Job-hunters should make sure that they are using the correct language and not lying on their CVs, according to an industry commentator.
Peter Panayotou, senior consultant at CV experts The Write Stuff, said that the idea is that people need to sell themselves but stop short of saying anything that is untrue.
"The secret to selling oneself is to put in lots of action words and inspirational language. People consider a CV a sales document and as such they expect some level of enticement in it," he added.
Mr Panayotou's comments come after research by online recruitment information service HireScores.com found that 69 per cent of respondents had told some form of lie to secure their job.
Most people said they lied on their CV, with 90 per cent claiming to have been dishonest on this particular document.
