Evidence of a balanced lifestyle and social skills can help candidates secure jobs, it has been claimed.
Writing for the Guardian, Karen Hainsworth stated that mentioning hobbies gives the impression that a would-be worker is likely to arrive in the office on Monday morning refreshed rather than exhausted from taking work home with them.
She went on to say CVs should also be skewed positively and any experience that shows a jobseeker can initiate, be creative and innovative and is somebody who has taken control of their own life will benefit a resume.
Ms Hainsworth added: "Some kind of work experience is essential. It doesn't matter whether it's paid employment or not. And it doesn't have to be specific to your career path."
This week, recruitment website Job-Job.co.uk commented that candidates applying for marketing and sales jobs should openly discuss what makes them the right person for a position during their interview.
