Up to £52,000 Basic, £70,000 OTE plus company car/allowance plus benefits

A sales and marketing leadership role with a market-leading British manufacturer and distributor that sells products to a wide variety of end-users. Clients include major retailers (high street and online) and consumer goods manufacturers. It is a highly traditional British manufacturing business with a long heritage that has made enormous strides to modernise. It is looking for a commercially strong and sales-led professional to drive its change into a more eCommerce-based business. The role requires a strategic thinker who leads by example and is an enabler of change. The position is Sales and Marketing Director designate. It is expected that you will levitate to the board in two years.

The Role

This is a UK wide sales and leadership role where full training is offered; therefore, previous product knowledge is not required. Your team members are all product experts, so they will support you when things get overly technical. The critical requirement is your brilliant sales and marketing leadership skills!

The vital experience that we are looking for is:

+ A Proven sales track record (5 years plus).

+ Sales Leadership of internal and external sales teams (2 years plus) - recruiting, driving, coaching, mentoring, etc.

+ A strong character that is personable yet sets high expectations on themselves and others.

+ A credible business professional that will quickly gain the respect from long-serving (some 20+ years) members of the team

+ A cheerful, positive, engaging and enthusiastic sales leader that people naturally 'buy into'.

+ A loyal and logical career path with a CV that demonstrates growing teams and business and seeing things through (rather than 'jumping ship' when the pressure is on)

+ Experience working in a small business, i.e. not all from within large corporates as this is a 50-person firm.

Core Functions

+ Management of the sales and marketing teams.

+ You will set the sales strategy and delivery model to achieve growth.

+ You will also have heavy involvement in ensuring that the sales systems and processes are as efficient as they can be.

+ You will also be involved in marketing strategy by managing both third-party marketing agencies and the in-house social media, web development and content writing team.

+ In addition, you will be the customer-facing Key Account Manager for the largest accounts

+ A strategic thinker that is big on execution

+ A 'moderniser' that can turn a moderately successful longstanding business into a hugely successful one by updating systems, process, methodology and the culture within the sales team

+ Someone with a decent understanding of the importance of social media in modern sales and marketing methodologies.

+ The ideal candidate will have been involved in overseeing the development of websites, directing a marketing calendar including regular blogging events, using Content Management Systems, evaluating Google Analytics and using Paid Search tools

+ You will be a manager that manages individuals as individuals to get the best out of them and isn't afraid to make tough decisions, if that is what is needed.

+ The ability to lead, coach and mentor others

+ A reputation for getting the best out of teams and a history of turning around longstanding staff, some of which are not meeting sales expectations

+ A lack of ego - someone that is confident but not arrogant.

+ A great teamplayer that develops a fantastic team environment where members are happy, feel safe and thrive.

+ Assertive without being abrasive. Able to keep all members of the team on track.

+ Superb communication skills; written, listening, presenting, speaking

+ Inquisitive and proactive

+ Displays honesty and integrity and can demonstrate these characteristics
