Client Relationship Manager Job Description
Often being the focal point of client communication, client relationship managers will perform a similar role as account managers in ensuring that a company’s contracts and relationships are healthy and happy.
Client relationship managers will often manage internal teams in managing the delivery of a product or service through to a client, making sure that it is delivered on time and as sold to the client. Nurturing current business relationships is the goal of a client relationship manager, and they will regularly receive bonuses on top of regular earnings for up-selling current contracts and increasing the revenue received from each one of their clients.
Regularly meeting with business partners and contacts, client relationship managers are expected to be flexible and regularly travel throughout the UK.
Client Relationship Manager Salaries
According to 2023 Glassdoor data, the national average client relationship manager's salary is £41,000 in the UK.
Salaries can range from £21,000 to £76,000 depending on the size of the client contracts you are working on, your experience and the sector in which you work. As previously mentioned, client relationship managers can also earn generous bonuses on top of their regular earnings.
What Makes a Good Client Relationship Manager?
It says it on the tin, really: client relationship managers are there to form successful relationships with their contacts, with the best candidates being able to nurture an account to increase the business which is sold to a partner company. Strong communication skills are really key to enable clients to trust you to deliver a product or service over the long term.
Strong business acumen is also required, with the best client relationship managers being able to spot an opportunity to upsell an account by really understanding the business needs of their client.
