Internal Sales roles can be a combination of sales, marketing and general administration.
Working for a SME (Small Medium sized Enterprises) in an internal capacity you will typically get involved in more areas than in a typical sales role in a larger organisation.
Often an internal sales role is working in a sales team and you could be working with an experienced sales professional helping to put together quotes, proposals and responding to tenders. The role can often expose you to many different sales and marketing skills and as such an internal sales role can be a great starting point for a career in sales. Internal sales roles tend to be more reactive and 'inbound' and as a consequence the OTE, or 'On Target Earnings' is typically substantially lower than in new business telesales roles. That aside an internal sales role can be highly varied and you can quickly become a valued asset in any sales team.
